About
I’m Erin.
I currently reside in Sydney, but I am not from here originally (I come from the land where the sun sets over the ocean).
I have been trained to call soccer ‘football’, which I agree is what it should be properly called, so if you catch me talking about football, I do not mean AFL. I should also take a moment to point out that football has been the only sport I have the tolerance to watch on television.
I am currently studying my post-graduate diploma in library and info studies at Curtin University. I have been impatiently waiting to start this since early February, where I missed the 1st semester enrollment by 3 days. Sigh.
I have a ridiculous amount of interest and fascination with the world, which is part of the reason why information management work resonated so strongly with me. Finding information and delivering it to people makes me feel good inside. Even better if I can help others do it. New technologies, new ways of sorting and finding and delivering information fascinate me, for the moment anyway.
My current list of interests and activities are: reading everything, writing short young adult lit stories and short pieces on interesting science stuff, reminiscing about the days when I was a geek girl gamer, discussing the 11th Doctor, baking an obscene amount of vegan sweets, illustrating and learning the gentle art of cartooning, reading up on the socio-economic-political-environmental ills of our time, job hunting and cursing my astrology for not being 100% accurate.
One of my many dreams is to open a dedicated bookstore to children’s and young adult literature in Sydney’s western suburbs.
My silly librarian dream is to be a curator of a special library dedicated to the works of the Australian video games industry. My less silly dream is to be a librarian for a science and technology center.
I am planning to complete an undergrad degree in physics after my information science diploma.
I can also be found sharing my sketchbook/art/writing learning process here and some art prints + fabric + artjournal prompts for those types that like juicy woowoo beauty things here.
